The major step when it comes to carpets is actually choosing one. Don’t stress though as these days it is very to find a poor quality carpet. The reason for this is the many improvements in fibre technology and construction techniques. However, you do get what you pay for and obviously some carpets are more hardwearing than others. Wearing isn’t the entire package as we all know, a carpet has to look good and many are prone to flattening and soiling.
A heavier weight carpet, combined with a higher density of pile, will usually last longer than a lighter or looser pile. However, be sure to realise that the location is important. Heavy wearing rooms such as living rooms should be fitted with heavy expensive carpets, whereas low wearing carpets should be fitted with lighter, less expensive carpets.
