Estimating and Fitting
The next step once you have chosen the carpet you like is to have it professionally fitted. Before this you should get an estimate of the cost in order to find out if you are getting a good deal. Shopping for a carpet fitter is just like clothes shopping. You have to search in order to find the best deal.
Try to get your carpet supplier to visit the location in order to measure the room, assess the situation and the time it would take to lay the carpet. This will give a much more accurate estimate.
Whoever you choose to receive your estimate from, ensure that it includes the following factors.
- Advice on appropriate underlay.
- Extra work (e.g. clearing the room, easing the doors, type of fixing accessories, door plates and stair nosings if required).
- Removing carpet and underlay waste.
- Check which method of fixing is recommended by your supplier.
Be sure to inspect your carpet well with the fitter after it has been fitted. Always get a fully qualified fitter, especially for tricky lays.
